MobileCamp SF was a success!
MobileCamp SF was a roaring success. Held at the historic http://www.swedishamericanhall.com/, we gathered a veritable who’s who of the San Francisco
Mobile Elite. In attendence were tnkgrl of tnkgrl Mobile, Ewan of
Mobile Industry Review & Mobile Developer TV, Dennis of WAP Review,
Chris from PhoneNews, Igor and John of Mobify.me, Rahul from Yahoo, and
probably a few I’m forgetting. We also had many enthusiasts that
don’t publish blogs (shocking!).
We had a loose agenda which was mostly overlooked; the devices were
the stars of the show. The N97usa 24/7 team had nine Nokia N97s for
everyone to try out, which proved to be the biggest draw. The N97usa
Rockstars showed everyone how we’ve been exploiting the power of the
N97 to publish photos, videos and text to the internet on the go,
allowing us to leave the laptops in the hotel for most of our tour.
Tnkgrl also brought a Samsung I8910, which belongs to Ewan MacLoed.
This guy makes us all jealous by jumping the puddle to buy the best
device on Orange, then selflessly handed it over to tnkgrl and myself to play
with for 3 weeks. In addition, he’s fantastic at bringing and
introducing wonderful people to network with. Ewan is a Full Ruler!
On a technical note, the meetup space was perfectly equipped for an
event like this. Two fast WiFi access points, plenty of powerstrips, a
projector the the famous Nokia TV-Out cable, and lots of catered food
and drinks kept everyone quite happy. Big props to the organizers for
thinking of everything.
I was having so much fun talking to everyone that I forgot to capture
any pictures or video, but MobileDan and others took these great
shots.
I’m typing this post on an airplane enroute to Chicago on the N97. We’ll be hosting
another MobileCamp. I’m sure this event will be at least as awesome as SF, so make sure you sign up on the wiki page. The wiki page can
