I was given a Samsung i8910 to try out for a week. I really liked it! I filmed this review right before we left for the N97 24/7 Across the USA Tour, and I felt guilty posting a Samsung review while on tour for Nokia. See how hard my life is?
And here’s a demo video filmed with the i8910. This was filmed before the big AMR update, so the device may get better frame rates now.

nice vids and soundtrack
btw, is this little hole right next to the lens a dedicated video mic?

Why yes, I do believe it is a second “video” mic. I learned this after I filmed this video. Since I’ve filmed this, tnkgrl unlocked, unbranded and upgraded the firmware on this device. Even though Samsung is not famous for updating firmwares, this one still gets better all the time.

I love the part of the demo video where you stand above the stairs & escalator. Gorgeous.
What did you think of Samsung’s version of S60 v.5 after using the N97′s?
(p.s. the js.kit commenting won’t let me log in – agh.)

Does Samsung have any equivalent to Share Online? Does the i8910 allow you to download other S60 apps that would allow you to send photos & video ? Did you try PixelPipe or Shozu?

Ms Jen, thanks for the encouraging words! I was trying to mix it up with still and motion shots. As I’m sure you’re aware, that’s usually where digital video recording starts dropping frames, so I was trying to test for that.
The Samsung version of S60v5 was pretty close to the N97, I did miss Share Online and Sports Tracker, but not much else. I don’t recall if Shozu or Pixelpipe worked on the i8910…

It works with ATT 3G?! I need to check this out.

@Mark, it only supports 1900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA (3G) in the US – not 850 MHz.
