talking with tnkgrl episode 5

In this episode of talking with tnkgrl, we discuss tnkgrl’s new toy, the Verizon Storm, and how she’s planning to unlock the GSM bands on this dual-band device.

We also talk about the camera on the Nokia Music Express 5800, and how Nokia’s cameras have been going downhill for a few models.

Then I show off a wide-angle fisheye lens from HongKong.  I’m giving it a fail rating for flash phontography.

Extra special thanks to tnkgrl of tnkgrl Mobile for participating! Check out her blog, and subscribe to her feed. If you prefer audio only, tnkgrl has thoughtfully posted the audio over here!

  • "Where is our camera phone Nokia?" here, here. Where indeed! I'll tell you where. Stuck in 2006. The N93 ruled all!
  • James,

I enjoyed your article on the Samsung i8910. Maybe that'll jumpstart Nokia's competitiveness again!

On a positive note, I found all the missing camera options on the N79 and N85. You've gotta choose Options > Customize Toolbar, and all the expected options are there. Hiding White Balance, c'mon Nokia!
  • Love the NDN Matt. Catch it everyday. Keep them coming!
You mentioned posting a link to get info about the wide angle lens, but I don't see it anywhere. Looks like it works ok. Have you posted any photos taken with it. I'm curious about quality.
  • Oh, and I took some picture samples last night. I'll upload them to Flickr soon, and link.
  • Excellent point! I've updated the video links with a link to the Wide Angle lens. On the N95, It's a fail for flash phontography, because the lens causes a big shadow on the scene. The N96 is exactly the same as the N95 with this add-on lens.
